    I was out cutting the lawn with a push mower. I had on ear protection that I could play music through. I just walked under the big oak tree in our yard as I mowed the lawn and felt the ground shake. I looked around startled, and saw that a huge branch split off that oak tree and fell just a few seconds after I cleared the tree with the mower. It hit so hard that I felt the ground tremor come up through my feet. I called a tree service in Long Island after I calmed down. I had a hard time even finishing the lawn that day. I was nervous about mowing close to the tree.

    It looked healthy. Every spring it leafed out and looked strong. It was a little windy that day, but not much. It was just a pleasant breeze on a hot day. I saw the limbs swaying from the porch just a little before I started mowing. Read the rest of this entry »

    I figured my husband and I would have a time of it looking at Silver Spring Maryland apartments. The main reason I thought this is because it is so close to Washington D.C., so I figured that people would naturally want to live closer to here since the prices would be lower than what an apartment in the capital would be. We chose Silver Spring because there are two colleges here, and we hope that our daughter will want to go to one of them and commute from home since it is so close.

    Moving is an interesting thing. I never liked to do it, but I have enjoyed the changes. Each time we moved, my wife and I ended up in a nicer place. I grew up in a very old and drafty house. When I got married, my wife and I lived in a newer trailer. It was huge compared to that old house I grew up in. It was nice to have the big kitchen and the separate dining room. The bedroom was small with a king-size bed. After that we looked at 2 bedroom Stone Oak Apartments.

    We finally found a really nice place that we wanted to live at for a long time. It was nice to go back to having a two-bedroom apartment. The last place only had one.
